Spring is here and with the warmer temperatures and wet winter, it won’t take long for lawns to start growing. April is National Lawn Care Month, with that in mind the City of Great Bend would like to remind everyone of the hazards of an improperly maintained lawn. Overgrown vegetation provides habitat for birds, rodents, and insects including mosquitoes. A neglected lawn can intrude on right of ways, sidewalks, and even streets causing safety concerns for the public as well as service crews. Poor maintenance of lawns can also attribute to fires during hot and dry summers.
More information on vegetation and other codes can be found on the cities website https://www.greatbendks.net/ under the Code of Ordinances link.
