Statewide Tagged Derby
• The Great Kansas Fishing Derby is a tagged fish contest hosted by KDWP between May 1 and July 31
• Locations selected by Fisheries Division
• Reservoirs, State Fishing Lakes and CFAP Locations
• All fish species and sizes tagged may be tagged
• Tag and Raffle Prizes comprised of Local and Online Retailers and KDWP purchased items = goal of 500 sponsored tags
• Third-party website dedicated to derby –

Objectives:
1. Increase license sales and reduce Churn
2. Increase agency relevancy and create partners within the fishing industry, retailers, and communities near derby locations
Rules:
• License required to fish and redeem tag unless exempt by law
• Exception – Free Fishing Weekend
• All ages allowed to participate
• KDWP Employees and Immediate Family not allowed to participate
Timeline:
• March
• Contact license vendors to garner sponsorships
• Contact CVBs, CFAP cooperators, etc
• April
• Public launch using news releases and social media
• Distribute promotional items to participating retailers
• Continue soliciting sponsorships if necessary
• May to July
• Contest begins on May 1st
• Continue tagging fish if, when and where needed
• Solicit additional sponsorships or prizes if necessary
• Contest ends July 31st
• August to December
• Evaluate program
• Additional Prize Drawings
