Service Disconnections

While every effort is made to see that the citizens of Great Bend have available the water service required, service may be discontinued for any of the following reasons:

  • The customer requests disconnection (Request for Utility Disconnection Form (PDF))
  • Service is abandoned
  • A utility bill becomes delinquent
  • A dangerous condition exists on the customer’s premises
  • Service is tampered with or diverted
  • The customer fails to provide credit information or has a previous undisputed and unpaid account for water / sewer services in the City
  • The customer misrepresents his or her identity for the purpose of obtaining water / sewer service
  • Payments under a payment agreement are not met
  • A billing statement is returned by the post office
  • The customer issues the Utilities Department a bad check

Service Restoration

  • The City Utility Department will NOT contact the customer and request payment of the delinquent amount prior to the water being turned off.
  • Shut off notices (Red Utility Cards) are due in full on Mondays at 4:30 p.m.
  • Any payments received after 4:30 p.m. on Monday will be charged the disconnect fee and the appropriate reconnect fee. No fees will be waived if payment is made after 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
    • Fee during business hours - $50
    • Fee after business hours - $100
  • When Utility Customers request service at a new address, the Billing Office will collect all past due amounts before service will be granted at the new location
